Opened in 1986, Mara Sopa Lodge is one of the Masai Mara’s longest running properties, perched on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills with panoramic views over the surrounding savannah. Built in traditional African rondavel style, round guest cottages set among landscaped gardens, it has a distinct look compared to the tented camps found elsewhere in the reserve.
With around 100 rooms, it’s one of the larger lodges in the Mara, well suited to bigger groups and families rather than an intimate, secluded stay. Facilities include a large swimming pool, a gift shop, and a bar and lounge, dependable rather than flashy, in keeping with its long standing, established reputation.
