Ol Tukai sits inside Amboseli National Park itself, on the edge of dense acacia forest, one of the only lodges positioned to put you right among the wildlife rather than commuting in each day. The 80 chalet-style rooms are spread with terraces looking out over either the surrounding wetlands or Mount Kilimanjaro, and most bedrooms have space for an extra bed for a child.
A resident ornithologist leads guided bird walks around the lodge grounds, a genuine specialist touch not every Amboseli property offers. In the evenings, the Elephant Bar serves cocktails looking out toward the plains, and private bush dinners or a champagne breakfast can be arranged for something more memorable.
