Samburu Serena Lodge

Set on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, where crocodiles and the occasional leopard are part of the scenery, Samburu Serena Lodge is one of the larger properties in the reserve, cabin-style rooms with elegant, rustic-luxury interiors. Its size and river frontage make it especially popular with groups and families rather than couples seeking an intimate, secluded stay.

The reserve itself is known for wildlife rarely found elsewhere in Kenya, Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx and the long-necked gerenuk, alongside more familiar species like elephant, lion, cheetah and buffalo. Over 350 bird species have been recorded in the area, including the Somali ostrich.

What to Expect

Game drives. Morning and afternoon drives into Samburu National Reserve, with your own driver guide throughout your stay.

Dining. On-site restaurant with river views, part of the lodge’s larger scale facilities.

Facilities. A large swimming pool and cabin-style rooms directly on the riverbank.

Good for. Groups and families wanting a larger, well established lodge, and first time visitors who want dependable comfort on the river.
