What the day looks like
Mida Creek is a tidal inlet fringed by dense mangrove forest, calm, sheltered water, and one of the best places on the coast to watch a sunset without a crowd around you. This cruise boards a traditional wooden dhow in the late afternoon and sails slowly through the creek as the light starts to fade.
Cocktails and snacks are served on board, fresh seafood bites, samosas, and a cold drink in hand while you watch fishermen paddling home in dugout canoes and, if the tide and season cooperate, flamingos resting in the mangrove treetops. The creek is also a genuine birdwatching spot, home to sacred ibis, African fish eagles and migrant shorebirds, so it’s worth having a camera ready even if birdwatching isn’t usually your thing.
We collect you from your hotel in Watamu, and the pace of the evening is entirely relaxed, no itinerary to rush through, just a slow sail and a good sunset. It’s a strong pick for couples and honeymooners, but works just as well as an easy, low effort evening for families or groups who’ve had an active day already.
